What is Low-e glass?
Low-emissivity glass (Low-E) is a double or triple insulating clear unit, to which an invisible metal coating has been added, letting the outdoor light in but retaining the radiant heat originating from indoors. Low-emissivity glass can be combined to argon or krypton gas. However, because of its high cost, krypton gas is not commonly used, but is the most insulating. The principal advantage of having low-emissivity glass is energy savings. Besides diminishing the cost of heating during winter, this insulating glass will reflect away the sun radiation, thus, reducing air conditioning costs in the summertime.
